Crunchy Topped Pilchard Bake
(Serves 4) Ingredients
- 1 x 425g can Lucky Star pilchards in tomato or chilli
- 100g (250ml) Cheddar cheese, grated
- 25ml Margarine
- Salt and pepper
- 1 Onion, finely chopped
- 1 Small packet crisps, crushed (not too fine
)
Method
Preheat oven to 180°C
Place pilchards in oven proof dish with sauce. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Top with cheese.
Melt margarine; add onion and fry gently for a few minutes. Add the crisps. Spread crisps mixture over pilchards.
Bake for 20-30 minutes until heated through.
Serve with fresh rolls and a salad. For bigger appetites, serve with putu or pasta and vegetables.
