Surgeons will locate the blocked artery, or arteries, identified in the angiogram and make a small slit - about 4 - 5 mm - in the artery downstream of the blockage.

They'll attach one of the veins harvested from your leg to the slit using very fine stitches (and 4-times magnifying glasses!). This is done for each blocked artery, and then all the loose ends of the grafts are stitched directly to the aorta.
