A Team of Excellence
GENERAL INFORMATION
The cardiology and cardio-thoracic units opened their doors in October 1998.
The facilities included:
- a cardiac catheterisation laboratory with DCI
- two designated cardio-thoracic operating theatres
- seven cardiology ICU beds
- six cardio-thoracic ICU beds, and a
- designated general ward.
Service par excellence is our motto. This is prevalent throughout our services, i.e. excellent specialists and dedicated nursing staff caring for our patients in the best of facilities. Our standard of care is that of concerned carers at the highest level.

Services
- Angiography
- Cardiac catheterisation procedures
- Coronary angioplasty (PTCA)
- Implantation of stents
- Implantation of pacemakers
- Intensive care nursing for patients with cardiological problems including myocardial infarction
- Cardio-thoracic surgery
- Intensive care nursing for patients post cardio-thoracic surgical intervention including coronary artery bypass surgery
- Heart transplantations
- Replacement of heart valves, e.g. the Witral valve with artificial heart valves
Facilities
- 24 Hour accident and emergency unit where helicopter can land if arranged
- Cardiac catheterisation laboratory
- Cardio-thoracic operating theatres
- Cardiac ICU and high care unit, cardio-thoracic ICU and high care unit, as well as designated general ward
- Radiology unit including CT scanner and MRI
Support services and facilities

- Occupational therapy - resident occupational therapist
- Patient and family counselling - private social worker and/or clinical psychologist as required
