Rondebosch East Primary School tendered their tuck shop last year and the successful operator was Wazir’s. Wazir’s is managed by Zubeida Abrahams with the help of her husband Ashraf (part time) and her sister Ghadija Palmer (full time).

Rondebosch East Primary School was concerned about the majority of fatty foods that was being sold by previous owners and have resorted to a “Healthy Approach” going forward. Wazir’s had to adapt to the requirements set by the school and the expectations from teachers and parents that the items and food sold at the tuck shop will be healthy with an option of a prepaid menu for weekdays. At first, it started off tentatively but with the help and guidance of HSFSA’s Ayesha Seedat, a Registered Dietician, they quickly came to grips with the desired menu and daily items in the shop. Within the first month they were honoured with a Certificate of Participation and are now an active subscriber to the HSFSA’s School Tuck Shop Programme. The tuckshop has grown in leaps and bounds and all parties appreciate the effort.

Wazir’s recently decorated their tuck shop in preparation for the upcoming FIFA 2010 World Cup event and are running a competition that reads:

FOOTBALL FRIDAY! “Buy any special offer, i.e. lean beef burger or a light chicken burger and stand a chance of winning a soccer ball sponsored by BP”. Winners will be entered into a draw to win a soccer goodie bag with loads of FIFA goodies. Wazir’s would like to thank the HSFSA Tuckshop Programme for all their assistance...
