GET INVOLVED

Could you be a Heart and Stroke Foundation volunteer?

Volunteers are one of the Heart and Stroke Foundation's greatest assets. Without the support of volunteers, we cannot continue our vital work into fundraising, care and education.

Anyone can become a volunteer and you can give as much or as little time as you choose. Giving of your time or expertise will make a difference.
There are many reasons to volunteer for the Heart and Stroke Foundation:

  • It's fun,
  • To make new friends,
  • Be part of a team,
  • Use your free time in a positive way,
  • Gain valuable work experience for work or further education,
  • Gain confidence and self esteem,
  • Make use of your skills and experience,
  • Do something different to your normal job.

In the community

The Heart and Stroke Foundation organises numerous events throughout the year, aimed at raising funds for our Children's Programme and will be delighted to make use of your talents. If helping out at fun walks or golf days is up your alley, you will find volunteering at our events a great way to make friends and gain valuable work experience.

Free health screenings, including blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol tests, are offered to the public at shopping centres and lifestyle exhibitions on a national basis throughout the year, including Heart Awareness Month in September. Nurses and dieticians with extra time on their hands can help the Heart and Stroke Foundation to create more awareness of the risk factors for cardiovascular disease by assisting at these screenings.

Perhaps you would prefer something office based?

If so, why not volunteer at any of our regional offices. We are always looking for people with administration and project management skills.
There are many ways that you can help the Heart and Stroke Foundation as a volunteer and there is something to suit everyone.
